About Us

Project Manager: Brendon Guillot

My name is Brendon Guillot, I am the project manager for this year SAE regular aero team. I amcurrently in my senior year pursuing degree in mechanical engineering. I am a hard worker, independent, and motivated individual. This past summer I got the chance to intern at nuclear power plant, where enjoyed seeing how things work through a mechanical perspective. I chose this project to learn about aerodynamic-materials, design, and the science of flight. In addition, I would like to take this opportunity to apply that knowledge by designing and building a functional model plane and compete it against model planes built by other students so that I may further my experience and knowledge within this study.

Financial Officer: Victor Ho

Hello, my name is Victor Ho. I graduated from Kaimuki High school and am currently a senior studying mechanical engineering. I currently intern for Chelsea Group Ltd. and participate as a member on a team redesigning the ventilation system for Queen’s Medical Center. My interest in mechanical engineering stemmed from my fascination with aircrafts. I was in awe with the fact that engineers are able to design a huge aircraft that is capable of transporting people across the world. This led me to enter the field of engineering so that I may one-day work in the field of aeronautics. I decided to participate in the SAE aero project so that I can gain the knowledge necessary for designing an aircraft. I also saw this as an opportunity to
develop ideas on a design that could potentially be the future of aircraft design.

Systems Integrator: Jacob Icard

My name is Jake Icard, I am studying mechanical engineering at the University of Hawaii. I am part way through my senior year and will be participating in the SAE Aero competition in Fort Worth, Texas next year to complete my capstone project. I have had an interest in aerospace engineering for many years, and plan to enter the industry as an engineer after graduation.  I took a year leave from school between January and December of 2015 to work as an intern at Aerovel Corporation in Hood River, OR. I participated in the design and fabrication of composite airframe parts for the Flexrotor; a long-range VTOL drone aircraft. I plan to apply what I learned
at Aerovel to the design and construction of our RC aircraft for the SAE competition. At the end of this year I hope to have a complete understanding of the design process behind the development of an aircraft to meet certain performance specifications under constraints that are generally faced in industry.

Design Technician: Po'okela Stillman Reyes

Hello, my name is Po'okela Stillman Reyes. I graduated from Kaiser High School and received my A.S.N.S in Pre-Engineering Degree from Kapiolani Community College. I plan to graduate from UH Manoa in May of 2017 with my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. I've been fortunate to participate in many programs and internships throughout my academic career. I had the privilege of conducting research in Costa Rica on various bat wing aspect ratios and wing loading. Recently, I've been able to dip into the HVAC and construction fields this past summer.  Through these experiences I have been able to broaden my perspectives on the possibilities of working with industry versus research. My original interest in math lead me to an Engineering pathway. As I dove deeper into my curriculum, I began to develop a passion for aeronautics, space, and robotics, which led to the obvious choice of becoming a Mechanical Engineer. To explore my interests, I have decided to join the UH Manoa Aero team, where I may further develop my passion into aircraft design and construction. I hope that through this project that I may one-day work in a field that is related to aeronautics or space flight.
